Bay Fishing Ocean City
Experience some of the best inshore fishing Ocean City, Maryland has to offer on our family-friendly bay fishing charters. These trips accommodate up to six anglers and are perfect for both beginners and experienced fishermen looking to target popular local species such as flounder, striped bass, bluefish, tautog, and sheepshead. All fishing licenses, bait, and tackle are included, so all you need to bring is your enthusiasm and a cooler for your catch. For guests looking to experience even more of the bay, we can also customize your trip to include crabbing and clamming alongside your fishing adventure.
Our captain closely monitors tides and fishing conditions to provide the best possible experience. Because fishing in the Ocean City back bays is often significantly more productive during an incoming tide, trip departure times may vary, and we may occasionally recommend adjusting your start time or date to coincide with optimal conditions. Fish cleaning is available for a small additional fee, and we kindly ask guests to remember that gratuities for the mate are greatly appreciated, as they work hard throughout the trip to ensure a safe, enjoyable, and successful day on the water.
Target Species
Ocean City’s back bays provide excellent fishing opportunities throughout much of the year, with different species becoming available as water temperatures and seasonal migrations change. Spring marks the return of striped bass, tautog, and the first flounder of the season, while warming waters bring increased activity from bluefish and sheepshead around bridges, docks, and structure. Summer is traditionally peak season for bay fishing, with flounder becoming the primary target and opportunities to catch bluefish, sheepshead, and striped bass during favorable conditions.
As temperatures begin to cool in the fall, striped bass fishing improves and tautog become more active around rocks, wrecks, and bridge pilings. Flounder fishing can remain productive well into the autumn months before fish migrate offshore. Because seasonal conditions vary from year to year, our captains adjust techniques and target species throughout the season to provide the best possible fishing experience and maximize your chances of success on the water.
Where We Fish
One of the biggest advantages of our bay fishing charters is that we stay within the protected waters of the Ocean City and Assawoman bays, avoiding the rougher conditions often found in the open ocean. These calm, sheltered waters provide a comfortable experience for families with young children, first-time anglers, and anyone concerned about seasickness. Depending on the season and target species, we’ll fish around channels, grass flats, bridge pilings, docks, and other productive structures throughout the bay system, all while enjoying smooth conditions and staying close to shore.
