Target Species

From June through October, inshore shark and wreck fishing off Ocean City shifts with warming and cooling water temperatures, bringing different species into peak activity throughout the season. In early summer (June and July), inshore shark fishing is at its strongest, with sandbar sharks, sand tiger sharks, dusky sharks, and occasional hammerheads patrolling the coastal waters just outside the inlet. During this same period, wreck fishing produces steady action with sea bass, flounder, and the first waves of triggerfish as structure becomes more active.

As August and September arrive, shark fishing remains productive but can become more condition-dependent, while wreck fishing often shines with consistent bites from sea bass, triggerfish, flounder, and tautog around deeper structure. By October, cooling water temperatures begin to slow inshore shark activity, but tautog fishing improves significantly as these fish move onto nearshore wrecks and hard bottom. Throughout the season, captains adjust locations and techniques to match daily conditions, balancing shark encounters with reliable bottom fishing to keep steady action on the line.

Where We Fish

Our inshore shark and wreck combo charters stay close to Ocean City, Maryland, typically working within a few miles of the inlet along the coastal waters and nearby offshore structure. We target inshore shark grounds just outside the beach where sandbars, channels, and bait-rich water attract sand tiger, sandbar, dusky, and occasional hammerhead sharks during the warmer months. Because these areas are relatively close to shore, anglers spend more time fishing and less time running, while still getting into true big-game style shark action.

When we switch over to wreck fishing, we move to nearby artificial reefs, shipwrecks, and natural bottom structure scattered along the Ocean City coastline.
