Inshore Trolling Fishing
Enjoy fast-paced, light-tackle action on our inshore trolling charters out of Ocean City, Maryland. These trips accommodate up to six anglers and are designed for families, beginners, and experienced fishermen looking to target some of the most exciting nearshore species the Mid-Atlantic has to offer. We focus on trolling along the coastline, inlets, and nearshore structure where schools of baitfish attract hard-hitting predators.
During inshore trolling trips, anglers primarily target Spanish mackerel, bluefish, king mackerel, and false albacore when they are in season and feeding close to shore. All fishing licenses, bait, and tackle are provided, making it easy to step aboard and start fishing right away, and fish cleaning is available for a small additional fee at the end of the trip. We kindly ask guests to remember to tip the mate, as they work hard throughout the day to keep lines in the water and help ensure a productive and enjoyable trip for everyone on board.
Target Species
Inshore trolling out of Ocean City, Maryland follows a strong seasonal pattern from May through October as different pelagic species move along the coastline in search of bait. In late spring (May and June), Spanish mackerel and bluefish are typically the first consistent arrivals, providing steady action close to shore around inlets, shoals, and breaking bait. As water temperatures rise into mid-summer, king mackerel begin to show in better numbers, often mixed in with Spanish mackerel and bluefish for fast-paced trolling action.
By late summer and early fall (August through October), false albacore become a major highlight, delivering explosive surface bites and high-speed fights when schools are actively feeding. King mackerel can remain present through early fall during warmer stretches, while Spanish mackerel and bluefish continue to provide reliable action whenever conditions are right. As temperatures begin to drop in October, bait concentrations shift and fish movements become more weather-dependent, but productive days still offer a mix of all four species along nearshore structure and migrating bait schools.
Where We Fish
Our inshore trolling charters stay close to Ocean City, Maryland, focusing on productive nearshore waters where baitfish schools and migrating predators consistently feed. We typically troll along the beachfront, just outside the Ocean City Inlet, and around nearby shoals, bars, and color changes where Spanish mackerel, bluefish, king mackerel, and false albacore actively hunt. These areas are all within a short boat ride, which means more time with lines in the water and less time running to distant fishing grounds.
