The offshore waters of Ocean City offer some of the most unique wreck diving opportunities on the East Coast, attracting divers from throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

For divers who would like additional guidance, we offer a personal Dive Master Guide for $150. A dedicated Dive Master can accompany you underwater, help you safely navigate the wreck, point out marine life, locate flounder hidden in the sand, and enhance your overall diving experience. Please let us know in advance if you would like to add this service to your trip.

Visibility typically ranges from 10 to 20 feet, with occasional days exceeding 50 feet of visibility. Bottom water temperatures generally range from 50°F to 65°F depending on the season, depth, and weather conditions.

Possible Dive Sites

Ocean City is home to dozens of artificial and natural wreck sites that provide incredible diving opportunities for certified divers. Depending on conditions and experience levels, potential dive sites may include the African Queen, USS Blenny, Marine Electric, Twin Wrecks, Screw Wreck, Gordon C. Cooke, Monroe, Powell, Manhattan, Elizabeth Palmer, Nina, Jennifer, Gun Boat, San Gil, and numerous unnamed wrecks scattered throughout the area. Each wreck offers its own unique combination of history, structure, marine life, and spearfishing opportunities.

Certification Requirements

All divers must hold proper certification from a nationally recognized agency such as PADI, NAUI, SSI, or equivalent for the dives they plan to participate in. A minimum of Advanced Open Water Diver certification is required for all recreational divers. Divers will be asked to provide their certifying agency and certification number, as well as present their certification card prior to departure.

The only exception is for students completing certification dives with a qualified instructor. All training dives must be discussed with and approved by the Captain prior to booking.

Safety Policy

At Chasin’ Tides Charters, safety is our highest priority. While our crew is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience, each diver is solely responsible for ensuring they possess the necessary training, experience, equipment, and insurance required for offshore ocean diving. All diving equipment should be properly maintained, serviced, and in excellent working condition before arriving for your trip. If you have any concerns about your equipment or ability to safely complete the dive, you should not enter the water.

Scuba diving is an incredible sport, but it involves inherent risks. Each diver is responsible for their own care, custody, and control while underwater and must dive within the limits of their training and experience.
